Your First Visit
Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, our receptionists will greet you and welcome you as a member of our family. Different managed care plans require specific forms for the patient intake and for them to pay for your treament. On average, it can take as little as 5 minutes, or up to 20 minutes for more complicated conditions, like auto or work related claims.
Consultation
We always offer a FREE consultation for up to 15 minutes. During this time you can tour the clinic, and talk to a staff member or a doctor to see what we offer. This is also a good time for us to find out if you are a chiropractic patient and to determine how we can help you. There is no treament, or diagnostic testing performed during a consult. We always offer a complimentary benefit check to see what your chiropractic/health coverage is.
Examination
Dr. Dennis Lenselink or Dr. Jason Fleisner will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend as well as other specific chiropractic, neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations to determine the extent and level of spinal injury and functional loss. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent. Examinations can range from around 10 minutes up to 50 minutes depending on the severity and complexity of your injury or condition.
X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to to get a full evaluation of a patient. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they their x-rays and can often immediately identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Report of Findings and Treatment plan outline
We will outline what the cause of your problem is and the best course of chiropractic care and therapies that we can combine to get you feeling and functioning better, fast! We will outline the three possible phases of care and which one best fits your needs. We will then answer the "Big 3".
- Can you help me?
- What do you recommend that I do to get better, and how long is it going to take?
- How much is it going to cost me?
Our philosophy is "tell you what you need, and then cheerfully give you what you want". This means that we will layout all treatment options based on your presenting issues and health history. We will tell you what it takes to improve your pain and function in the short-term (days or weeks).
We will point out any problems that could be improved or corrected with a more ongoing treatment approach. This is usually considered (reconstructive or corrective care). This would apply more to someone who has ongoing, or recurring problems, chronic pain, or needs more of a posture correction and re-education approach to the spine, joints, and surrounding soft tissues. Usually this involves treatment over several months.
Finally, there is wellness or prevention care. The goals here is to keep your body functioning at 100% of its optimal capability to ensure you the best health and function you can maintain.
F.Y.I.: Maintenance care levels can vary depending on your age, health issues, injuries, and your goals. Treatment could be weekly or monthly. The most common level of care our wellness patients have chosen to keep them feeling and functioning at their best is a treatment once a week. The second most common follow-up level is twice a month.
Our job as stated earlier, is to layout all possible treatment options, their advantages and shortfalls. and then let you decide which level or combination feels the best to you, and fits your needs.
Treatment
Patients will generally be provided with some form of treatment at the conclusion of their first appointment. This may include a combination of spinal adjustments, physio/rehab therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment you will be most comfortable with. We use special tools and techniques, such as myofascial release, percussor therapy, cold laser, acupuncture, and over 20 different adjusting techniques to get you feeling and functioning better, fast!
Rehab and Active Care Programs
Prior to leaving, patients will be instructed on a wellness program to be conducted at home. If you are in pain when you first come intor our office this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.
